Oli Adams: The Best Surfer In the World (Without a Large Intestine)

We’re honoured to share that Surfer Magazine has published a feature on our co-founder, Oli Adams, telling the story of his journey through illness, recovery, and rediscovery in the ocean.

The piece dives deep into Oli’s life, from chasing the QS dream in his early 20s while secretly battling Crohn’s Disease, to facing life-saving surgery and being told he’d never surf again. Instead of giving up, Oli returned to the water with a renewed energy and focus, eventually dedicating his life to hunting and documenting the heaviest waves across the UK and beyond.

The article traces the hard-earned lessons that led to the birth of Reverse Paradise — a collective committed to creating films, products, and mentoring experiences that not only showcase cold-water surfing but also inspire resilience, healing, and connection with nature.

For Oli, what once felt like an ending became the start of something much bigger:

“That I’m surfing these incredible waves, being healthy, fit and focused remains a blessing. It’s been ten years since the op, and I feel I’m just getting started.”

We’re grateful to Surfer Magazine for recognising the story and shining a light on both the struggles and the vision that fuel Reverse Paradise.

This is just the beginning of what’s to come. Thank you for being part of the journey.
